Alright. I hope you have a good time!
I think earthy tones would be the best bet. You're right that it would fit in with what the other eggs look like so far. c:

Another image dump! Hurrah! So it turns out I'm completely out of creativity as far as 'earthy' goes, and ideas would be very, very welcome. Orit- Bark texture attempt, peridot type stone, classic white egg, boring green vomit, and terracotta with green designs. I've got the Diniao and Phoenix linearts made-ish; the Phoenix, I think, is too pointy but I can rather easily lop off the top and adjust accordingly. They're not exactly like the examples, but I'm working on that, and I've got them layered properly so that I can export them as PSDs later and you can fiddle around if you feel the need. Originals are 600x600px. (Just noticed that the Phoenix egg has a transparency issue as well, because of course it does, but I'll update later with it fixed.) -Should be good now, but tell me if you see anything.

I think out of those I like the peridot one best. (Fun fact: Chrome doesn't think peridot is a legit word.) Do you think it might look good/better to reduce the texture a little bit? Like, make it blend a little more.
Would it be too much trouble to take out the stars from the Diniao egg? They seem to distract from the style the rest of the eggs have right now. I like the shape of the Phoenix egg though. It looks like the egg images one sees in a Google search or whatnot. The Diniao egg shape looks good too. c:
I would like the image files when you're done please. That way I can save them to my Dropbox with the rest of my files for VS. c: I have Sai, but I'm not really any good with using it. It'd be nice to have just in case we need them as back-ups or something though.

Thank you! I'll post the image files in the morning (I'll have to learn how to post download links first). c: I was looking at the Phoenix egg and realized that on the right side the lineart is way darker than it really should be. So I'll have to change that first too. Les oeufs peridot, lighter and greener respectively: And the Diniao egg- I actually had put the stars on a separate layer, so I put them on Overlay just for kicks: And this is the egg with no stars at all, which looks almost exactly the same: It doesn't really matter which you decide; I'll leave the stars layer on there anyway, and it's not much difference. It's just for the sake of having all the options and stuff.

I like the lighter peridot egg for the Orit. It looks awesome. ^-^ I think I like the Diniao egg with the stars overlay. It adds just a little extra visual interest to it. Not enough to be distracting but enough where I can see it. I'm really curious what other people think about the eggs too.

Okay, so I can't post them all fancy and nicely with the coding of this forum, but here are the links to the PSDs in my dropbox: Phoenix EggDiniao Egg
I was wondering about the Roc egg- all of the others so far have a glowy, geode-type texture, while it's all alone in the smooth speckled corner. So I'll try to make a couple variations that incorporate that texture, or we can make one or several of the others have less texture, or we can just let it be. (Someone needs to get in here other than us, I agree.)

Roc egg- pale with texture, darker with less texture, bluer with no texture. To be honest I don't particularly like any of them. I'll be redoing the shading, and probably the highlighting as well later, but the colours are hard to get right with this greyish cyan tone. (The speckles on the middle one are yellow from hue adjustment, by the way; sorry). Edit: Did the link work or the egg design work for you? Or both? Oh, well.

The links both work and allow me to save the images to my dropbox. I like the Phoenix and Diniao eggs too though.
I sadly agree with you. I want to say an in-between of the first and third, but I have no clue how that will look. Like, the color of the pale egg (maybe a little less green) with the more visible specks of the third egg. I don't really like the middle one at all.

I can't decide if I like the first or third one best. I want to say first, but the third also has a little more color to it. But at the same time, the Roc is the most natural mythical bird since its description is literally "humongous giant eagle." I don't know. What do you think? I think I'm leaning towards number three...

I had to redo the Roc egg almost completely due to glitching, but I tried for something in between. It has a tiny bit more colour, but the roc is the most normal of the bunch. Here, the Pamola egg, although I didn't do a very good job on colouring. I can't tell if it should be lighter, darker, more contrast, less saturation, etc.

Could you possibly add more speckling to the Roc egg? And for the Pamola I really like the deep ice coloring you did on the first page. So maybe you could make this one look more like that when you're playing with adjusting it? The shapes look awesome though!

I like the third Roc egg and the first Pamola egg. I think the Pamola egg is just perfect how it is. <3
With the Roc egg, is there any way to make it a little less grey-looking?
