Yes, the Turaco's head on the Quetzal's body would be perfect, and I agree with Sooshi's suggestions to make it more predatory in appearance.

I'm totally on board with changing the angle of the head feathers. That's a really good idea!

I think either the Tasmanian Masked Owl or the Barn Owl would work well. They both look like they could be psychics, so a third eye would look very natural on them.
An avian based on a quetzal would be cool! Their long tails and large cute eyes would be adorable! I'd love to see that! And the head change is a great idea! Especially since then the avian wont be an exact copy of a quetzal.

Huh. I hadn't thought of the owls that way. I think the facial disks on those two don't lend themselves very well for the placement of a third eye in the middle there. The way the feathers shape the face and everything. The Great Horned Owl and Eurasian Eagle Owl seem to have better faces for sticking a third eye up there.
Definitely! We don't want any of our birds to be exact copies of any species. We like mixing them up a bit. ^_^

Bohemian Waxwing I was thinking maybe we could take inspiration from the head of the Waxwing and apply it to the Pamola or Roc. What do you think everyone?

I think the Pamola would be a better target for the wedge-shaped head, seeing as the Roc is supposed to be more or less a giant eagle. But the little mini-crest could be applied to the Roc, as a couple stiffer feathers sticking out. The tail shape and the way the feathers lay so smoothly could be used for the Pamola as well, though,

o.o You got way more material out of that than I was even thinking of. That's awesome!! I love all three of your ideas.
