So Caelum Ocean and Aves River have the okay from you... And I see where you're coming from on the rest of them. c: Do you have any ideas on what we could name them instead? (I don't have any ideas at this moment.)
EDIT: I forgot to answer your question! D: Elleway just sounds cool. Elle means "she" if you look it up as a name, but I was just trying to put sounds together when I came up with it. ^-^;

Hmm. I've sort of just spilled a bunch of other possible names for them, I'm not sure if any are good. For Valley Plains, I already commented that it would be more akin to 'Meadow Valley' or 'Valley Meadow' if you wanted to keep with a similar name scheme for that. The different word options (ex: Crystal / Caelestis) is when I used both the modern word then the Latin / old form of the word. White DesertAny of the suffix-type words can be exchanged with 'Desert' if you wanted to keep it like that.-The Dreaded / Andreadan Flatlands -The Homeless Expanse -The Cursed Field -The Decayed / Decidere Desert -The Quiet / Quies Badlands -The Arid / Aridus Desert -Restless / Restleas Desert Blue LagoonAny of the suffix-type words can be exchanged with 'Lagoon' if you wanted to keep it like that.-Glimsen Depths -Rigid Basin -Violet / Viole Cove -Translucent / Translucere Lagoon -Crystal / Crystallum Gorge -Clelst / Caelestis / Celestial Waters -Northern / Southern / Eastern / Western Lagoon The Rocky RiseAny of the suffix-type words can be exchanged with 'Rise' if you wanted to keep it like that.-The Hollow Hills -The Shimmering / Scymrian Summit -The Ethereal / Aitherios Peaks -The Grim / Grimm Peaks -The Towering / Turris Heights -The Titanic / Titanikos / Titan Rise

Taking part of an idea from your previous post of ideas, what about the Talon Peaks for the mountain name? I like the idea of using Cove in the name for the Blue Lagoon area. I'd almost say to use Caelum Cove as a name (yay alliteration!) but people might get the ocean and the cove confused then. The Arid Desert might work. What do all you people think? ALL you people?

One: Elleway does sound cool. Two: Talon Peaks is good, and it's bird-themed, so even better. Three: On the Lagoon, or Cove, I think Glimsen Cove, Crystal Cove (because alliteration, yay, and it's slightly similar to caelum but hard to get mixed up) or Northern/Southern/Eastern/Western Cove (if it's closer to the edge of the map) are my top three. Cove sounds better than Lagoon in general. Four: For the desert I like the 'flatlands' suffix better because it makes more sense geologically (having a desert in the same space as a forest, mountains, bodies of water, etc is a bit of a stretch unless it's a really huge land mass), and Arid Flatlands would be still sound clearly desert-like.

You make a good point there Sooshi. I was thinking of it being a large land mass, but if that were the case would it make sense to even be able to explore the desert? One would have to traverse the mountains to even get to the desert after all.
So I guess my question is "Should we even have a desert?"

Here's an idea for area locations. Not sure if I like it or not. Maps are freaking hard though. What do you guys think? Do you have any ideas on how we can position things? c:

The important part of cartography is proper scaling. Considering modern conditions, meadows are never bigger than cities d: The river, okay, it would just be more squiggly and lightning-shaped, with its spring somewhere in the mountains. Desert? Not a problem, we do have one in Poland but barely anyone knows it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C5%82%C4%99d%C3%B3w_DesertIt's surrounded by forests and even divided by a -river- into two halves so I don't see a problem of such area existing somewhere in our world. It's anthropogenic but shhh, we're proud of it.

It was basic placing. It was not to scale. That said, Avesdale isn't a typical modern city and was never intended to be. If it were, it wouldn't mesh well with the mythological aspects of the game. In my head it's always been more the style of France in the 1500s.
Having a non-natural desert in the game doesn't really appeal to me, but it might to the others. We'll have to wait to hear from them.

That's weird, I could've sworn the words "present"/"modern" have appeared somewhere around here xD /fail

Present, yes. It's not set back in history. But it's not supposed to be modern. It's more of a village of sorts than a city. Sorry for the confusion! D:

If we want to stick with the Latin theme, Talon Peaks would be Talorum Peaks (genitive plural; genitive singular would be Tali).
What do you think?
I updated the first post too to better reflect where we are with names.

Some ideas:
Miri Cove (from Latin mirus (wonderful, marvellous, amazing, surprising, awesome); originator of "mirror") Veneti Cove (from Latin venetus (sea blue))
Viridis Forest (from Latin viridis (green; young, fresh, lively, youthful)

Okay, these two things have started to bother my mind:
1) Caelum Ocean doesn't flow as nicely as Caelum Sea. Should we change it to Sea or keep it as Ocean? 2) How is this whole "town in a valley" thing going to realistically work? I can't wrap my head around how we can make the valley, river, and forest all near each other in a way that allows for a central town. The forest is necessary to be close to the town. It provides wood and it's an easy, plentiful source of prey for the birds. The river needs to be close for water purposes and because the town is named after it in the Aves- part.

Talorum Peaks sounds cool! So does Veneti Cove, especially if the cove is a fishing or boating spot (it makes me think of venetian waterways). If we put the forest on the mountains, or on a section of them, and have the river start in a valley between two mountains, with the town in or near a valley, I think it's perfectly reasonable to have them all close together. We could take your placement map and just shift the town north and east a little bit, change the eastern cliffs into mountains and valleys, and add some extra forested areas around the mountains in the art (not as an extension of the region per se, just an aesthetic change).
